This Breville purchase lead to several more and I eventually ended up upgrading to the Breville BES900XL Dual Boiler and purchased the Breville Smart Grinder. Having used the Barista Express, I realized the need for a bit more power in the steam department for steaming/frothing milk like the pros. Granted, the steam function is not as fast as some other semi-autos on the market (with higher price tags) but the overall list of features that the Breville BES900XL provides is well...WELL worth it.

From Breville BES900XL Dual Boiler is gorgeous stainless steel exterior and well-enginered design to the ease of operation and clean-up, I have found the little...and I mean little....extra effort I put into making my latte drinks is well worth it and even fun! In addition, the retail cost of this Breville BES900XL is a fraction of the $3000 price of a super automatic! Can I say SOLD!?!?!? No longer do I suffer from improperly heated milk.

I am now able to produce perfectly steamed and frothed milk at an acceptable temperature (latte art will be another project for a rainy day)! Way to go Breville and Thank You for making the Breville BES900XL Dual Boiler! My kitchen has a beautiful new appliance and I have a renewed passion for making my favorite espresso drinks!

Love Breville BES900XL. Comes with everything you need to create magnificent espresso and cappuccinos save two: fresh beans and a grinder. Awesome features you didn't even realize you needed/wanted: Breville BES900XL Dual boilers, so you can start steaming your milk while your coffee is being made. Timer to turn itself on. This is huge. You can start making a cup of coffee within minutes of waking up instead of waiting 15 minutes. Makes a huge difference in a busy workday. Auto temperature control -- temperature and pressure is consistent every time. Hot water tap--you love espresso, your wife loves tea? Or maybe you want a french press (french press not included)? Tada--hot water on demand.

The Breville BES900XL tamper is magnetic and attaches itself to the machine next to the portafilter. That is cool! Wheels are cool, place to hide some of the accessories under the tray is cool. You can fill the water from the front and you can see the water level on the front of the Breville BES900XL Semi Automatic Espresso Machine. Also includes four filters. Now, why four filters? And why fresh beans? And why a fancy grinder to go with this Breville BES900XL? Well, comes to pass that fresh beans are no joke. And it comes to pass that cheapo grinders can't grind your coffee fine enough for the optimal functioning of Breville BES900XL Dual Boiler awesome coffee machine.

When you use staler beans and when the beans are not ground finely enough, its harder to get the right pressure for great tasting coffee. A not entirely satisfactory solution to this problem is to use "dual wall" filters. I don't pretend to understand the science, but using these included filters compensates for some of the negatives of stale and coarser coffee. So if you don't use the good stuff, you'll need to stick to the dual wall filters. To Breville BES900XL I say: good on you, Aussies! You've brought exceptional espresso to the masses. Highly Recommended.
